Literacy Help & Upgrading tutor

Once a week you meet an adult learner for two to three hours to build confidence in reading or math — maybe toward the Canadian Adult Education Credential. No experience necessary; the library provides training and support. Sessions for Fall 2026–Winter 2027 open for registration on August 24, 2026.

Roles

2–3 hrs weekly, three-month minimum · Grade 12 education or more

Children’s Learning Support

One hour a week with a child aged 8–12 — currently full, check back in September for fall sessions

English Language Learning tutor

Tutor a newcomer in English and build local cultural understanding

Home delivery volunteer

Bring books to people who can’t get to a branch — position open at Bedford

What you need

Application form plus a criminal record check

At least two references are contacted before appointing a volunteer

Literacy tutors: Grade 12 education or more

Worth knowing

Training and support provided for every volunteer

Volunteer service is recognized at least once a year
