Three days, six floors —

HAL-CON

Sci-fi, fantasy, comics, gamingHalifax Convention CentreNov 6 – 8, 2026

Atlantic Canada’s big convention takes over the whole Convention Centre for a November weekend: a main stage of actor Q&As, a floor of gaming the size of a hockey rink, a vendor hall that fills the ballroom, free signings from a dozen authors and artists, and a costume contest that closes it all on Sunday. Every pass sold out weeks ago, which tells you most of what you need to know about it.

The guests
Twenty-six names, three days of Q&As
Commander Riker, the Armorer from The Mandalorian, three Cullens, the cast of FROM, Earl and Randy, the voice of Caine from The Amazing Digital Circus, Clint McElroy — plus six authors, seven comic creators and two cosplay champions. Main stage spotlights are free with your pass; autographs and photo ops are extra and pre-sold.
The gaming floor
The biggest gaming convention east of Montreal
A whole floor: 15,000 square feet, 100-plus tables, a board game library you can sign out of, an arcade room from Silverball, a paint room, tournaments all weekend (Catan, Wingspan, 7 Wonders, Dominion) and a Treasure Trove that pays out prizes for playing.
The rest
Vendors, cosplay, and nights out
A vendor hall that fills the fifth-floor ballroom, free author and artist signings at the tables beside it, a costume contest that packs the main stage on Sunday, and a run of 19-plus evenings off-site — trivia, drag, burlesque, a Twilight screening — that are tickets of their own.

Guests cancel; it happens every year. The convention posts changes on its socials and site, and refunds pre-sold autographs or photos only for a cancelled session, not a moved one.

Sold out

Getting in

Tickets page + transfer form →
Every pass is sold out
Day passes, child passes, weekend, Impulse and Warp Speed — all gone, and the convention holds nothing back for the door. The only route in now is a transfer from someone who can’t go.
Transfers, not resales
Tickets are non-refundable but transferable, at or below face value, by the ticket holder through the convention’s transfer form. Email tickets@hal-con.com to confirm a seller is real before paying anyone.
Scam alert
Hal-Con sanctions no resellers. Social posts and emails claiming to be “verified” resellers are not; the convention asks you to report them.
Autographs and photo ops
Sold separately, online and at the convention, with prices per guest on the guest list. Three per guest at a time; one voucher is one signature or one 8×10 print. You need a pass for that day to use them.
Nights that still have tickets
A Conversation with the Cullens at Park Lane ($79.95, VIP $289.95, 19+), Speed Friending at Stardust on the Thursday, and Sweeney Todd: Draglesque at the Grafton Street Dinner Theatre on Sunday night each sell their own tickets and need no pass.
Kids and ID
Five and under are free with an adult; 6 to 12 use a Child Pass; 13 and up need a regular pass. Student, senior (65+) and military passes need matching ID at the door or a $15 upgrade.

How to Hal-Con

Five moves, in order
01
Build your day in Sched
Nearly 600 sessions over three days. The convention’s Sched site lists every one with room and time, and the Hal-Con app bookmarks them into a personal schedule. Our list below is the plannable half; use it to find what you want, then star it there.
Open the schedule →
02
Pick up your badge Thursday
Early registration runs Thursday 5 to 9 PM in the Argyle Street lobby. Bring the ticket on your phone. Friday morning’s line is the one everybody regrets.
Venue & hours →
03
Buy autographs before you arrive
Pre-orders are open and sessions are finite; nothing is held back for the day. Session 1 is morning, Session 2 is afternoon. Line up no more than ten minutes early.
Pre-order →
04
Do the vendor hall early
It closes before the rest of the convention each day — 7 PM Friday and Saturday, 5 PM Sunday — and it is the one room where a big costume and a crowd don’t mix. Ask before photographing a vendor’s table.
Vendor list →
05
Stay for Sunday
The costume contest at 4:15 and closing ceremonies at 6 are the two main-stage events that pack the house. Workmanship judging runs 11 to 3 if you’re entering; registration is free with a Sunday-valid pass.

Questions everyone asks

Convention FAQ →
Can I still get in?
Only by transfer. Every pass type sold out before the convention and none are held for the door. The Thursday, Friday and Sunday off-site nights sell their own tickets and don’t need a pass.
Where do I go?
The Halifax Convention Centre at 1650 Argyle Street, in through the Argyle Street doors. Registration is in that lobby; the main stage and panel rooms are on the same level.
Can I leave and come back?
Yes, for the whole time your pass is valid. Your badge gets you back in; bags are checked again at the door and there may be a line at busy times.
Is it for kids?
Yes. Anything not suitable for younger audiences is marked on the schedule, and the Pokémon Bingo, baby races and Disney Trivia are not. Under-13s need an adult with their own pass; the convention suggests no more than three children per adult.
Can I wear what I want?
Almost. No nudity, nothing promoting intolerance, nothing that could hurt someone, and props go through the weapons policy at the door. Consent applies to photos of cosplayers and of vendors’ tables alike.
Is the building accessible?
Automatic doors at Argyle and Grafton, elevators to every level (priority to those who need them), accessible and universal washrooms on each floor, Braille signage, ASL on some main-stage events (ask ahead for others), quiet rooms, and free badges for attendants arranged in advance.
Can I bring food?
Officially no, apart from a water bottle — there are refill stations throughout. Allergies, diabetes and babies are accommodated. Food vendors are inside and downtown is right outside; smoking is only at the three marked spots on Argyle Street.
How do the signings work?
Authors, comic creators and cosplayers sign for free at their Ballroom tables, three signatures at a time, then rejoin the line. Actor autographs are paid vouchers on the first floor; personal items are at the guest’s discretion and may carry a premium.
