Rocky Horror Double! The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) – Oct 23

Carbon Arc's doubling down on Rocky Horror with back-to-back screenings on Oct 23 and 30 — come costumed and compete for a six-punch pass. A perfect rainy-night tribute to Tim Curry and the cult classic that never gets old.

Friday, October 23, 9:00 PM - show added! Friday, October 30, 8:45 PM Jim Sharman | UK, USA | 1975 | 100m RIP Tim Curry! We remember this icon fondly with a ROCKY HORROR DOUBLE FEATURE. Come in costume! We will be giving away a six-punch pass to the best Rocky Horror character in the audience! Directed by Jim Sharman and adapted from the stage musical by Richard O'Brien, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is less a conventional film than a participatory cultural phenomenon. What began as a modest, oddball musical comedy evolved into the longest-running theatrical release in cinema history, reshaping how audiences interact with movies. The story itself is knowingly flimsy: a straight-laced couple, Brad and Janet (Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon), stumble into a stormy castle occupied by the flamboyant Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a self-described “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania.” What follows is a collision of sci-fi parody, sexual liberation, and glam-rock excess that gleefully dismantles heteronormative expectations. Musically, the film blends rock, glam, and pastiche. Songs like “Time Warp” and “Sweet Transvestite” function as communal rituals rather than narrative devices, encouraging repetition, call-and-response, and physical participation.
