The Atlantic International Film Festival is the biggest film festival east of Montreal, running in Halifax every September since 1980. The 46th edition takes over Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane on Spring Garden Road for eight days: Atlantic Canadian premieres, world premieres and the pick of the fall circuit, alongside filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, the AIFF Partners co-production market, gala screenings and a run of parties that mostly cost nothing to walk into.
The red carpet rolls out at Park Lane on Wednesday Sep 16 for the opening gala, 111 Echoes from Halifax; the Atlantic Gala, The Snake, screens Saturday Sep 19; and Sunday Sep 20 moves to Carbon Arc Cinema for the AIFF and Linda Joy Awards and the Filmmaker Lab works-in-progress screening. The festival closes Wednesday Sep 23, then AIFF Online streams a selection Sep 23 to 27.
Single tickets and passes are on sale through the festival’s Eventive box office; the in-person box office at Park Lane opens Sep 14.
