Pianocean is a unique floating concert by Marieke Huysmans Berthou—pianist, singer, composer, and sailor—performed directly from the deck of her sailing boat. For the past ten years, Marieke has been sailing the world with a piano on board, creating music inspired by the sea, distant coastlines, and the people she meets along the way. From the Steps by the Sea in Halifax, audiences are invited to experience an intimate piano-and-vocals performance celebrating a decade of maritime and musical adventure. Blending original compositions, poetry, and storytelling, Pianocean is an invitation to slow down, listen, and reconnect—with the ocean, with culture, and with one another. Each concert creates a bridge between territories, celebrating the shared stories that link coastal communities across the world.
A free, all-ages event, open to everyone. Join us for an unforgettable evening where music meets the sea.
